MarcDeSoto
This is for my 48 DeSoto. The spark plug ends are already fitted with 90 degree terminals. The distributor ends are not prepared. The wires have copper wires inside. From looking at some youtube videos, you are supposed the strip the ends of the insulation. Then bend the copper wire over on the cable, and then crimp the terminal on it and slide the boot on. Then, plug it into the distributor cap. Is that about it? Veemoney
Yes, that is basically it. To do a nice job install the plug end and route the wire the way you want them to run and then mark and cut figuring you will loose ~3/8" of length trimming but gain it back with the crimped end. I usually put the boot on before installing and crimping the end and then slide it up. Will work either way.
Andydodge
And of course if you have the stamped sheet metal plug lead separator with the coil wire at its edge its a good idea to maybe mark each wire the correct length and instal each wire thru their individual "channel" then reinstall the whole shebang..........tho' it maybe possible to get each wire thru after cutting to length............andyd
MarcDeSoto
Yes, the pre-war cars have the neat wire separator that separates each spark plug wire. The post war cars just have a simple dual cylinder thing where each cylinder guides three cables. Not my car, but here is a pic.
allbizz49
Invest in a crimping tool if you don't already own one.
