Would I have to remove crank case pulley, radiator and timing chain cover and oil pan to get an idea of where the leak is coming from? Original motor never apart. Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted January 18, 2022 Report Posted January 18, 2022 Put leak detection dye in the oil and find the leak using A UV light. Quote

RCummings Posted January 20, 2022 Author Report Posted January 20, 2022 The heavy oil leak is just below the front crank case pulley. Not that familiar with this flat head 6-1950 Dodge 3/4 ton. Is the timing chain cover and gasket above the crank case pulley or are they some how connected? Still learning. What would have to be removed? Quote
greg g Posted January 20, 2022 Report Posted January 20, 2022 There is a seal where the crankshaft penetrates, and the cover gasket. The front of the oilpan gasket is also in the vicinity. There is a procedure for centering the crank shaft seal. If not installed as directed, the seal will have a short life. Quote
