Greg W 41 Dodge WC Posted December 26, 2021 Report Posted December 26, 2021 Not an urgent issue, but as I’ve been driving my 1941 Dodge WC almost ever day I’m more aware that I have to duck my head and peek under my windshield to see if the stop light has changed. I am 6.0 feet tall. Is this normal in these trucks or am I more likely to have a non- original bench seat? Thanks and happy holidays. Quote

My seat is original height to the 1939 which I believe is the same as your 41. I'm 6'-1" and I don't find it bothersome, but there is some visibility blockage when your close to a traffic light. Does your seat appear to be over padded? Quote
Greg W 41 Dodge WC Posted December 26, 2021 Author Report Posted December 26, 2021 Thx. My seat is definitely not over padded ?. It sits 14” above the floorboards. My only issue is also at stop lights. I guess the average height of the design team was closer to 5.7. ? Quote
DJ194950 Posted December 26, 2021 Report Posted December 26, 2021 If you wait a few years and you will shrink?, like I did ,you will be fine to see through the windshield soon! ? My bad back and disc deterioration caused me to lose several inches, I do not wish that on anyone!! ? DJ 1 Quote

Yeah! we'll probably be driving right through those lights anyhow because we can't see anymore no matter what windshield we have. And, probably with the signal light going as well, due to hearing loss. ? Lols! Ain't getting old great! I'm heading to the hospital next week for fistula surgery. I'll probably have to add some padding to my seat? ? Quote
47Jim Posted January 6, 2022 Report Posted January 6, 2022 (edited) Most 40's vehicles are this way, the 47 Fleetmaster I used to drive was the same, you can buy that little clamshell glass piece to put on the dash to help view traffic lights when up close, I think we have to consider history when thinking about the day to day original use of these trucks, they were primarily used on farms, gravel or dirt roads, not many stop lights in those old, small towns and not driven great distances either at a much slower pace than what we're used to today. Context is everything I think... The good news......there's nothing wrong with your seat. Edited January 6, 2022 by 47Jim Quote
1949 Wraith Posted January 7, 2022 Report Posted January 7, 2022 (edited) My '42 Fargo at 6'2" I have to tilt my head to see farther down the road, or I can sit straight up and drive like my wife and not be concerned what is happening more than 25 feet down the road.? NIce thing about the design is you do not miss the sun visors, that are not installed, on sunny days. Edited January 7, 2022 by 1949 Wraith Quote
