fireguyfire Posted December 15, 2021 Report Posted December 15, 2021 I’ve got a brand new gas tank and sending unit for my 40 1/2 ton; the old one is junk. There is no reference to removing the gas tank in the FSM. is it possible to remove the gas tank without lifting the cab off of the frame? With the 4 bolts removed (the rear 2 have springs on them) the tank still hangs up on the 90 degree filler neck inside the cab. Im thinking I’m missing something and I should be able to replace the tank without lifting the cab from the frame. Quote
Young Ed Posted December 15, 2021 Report Posted December 15, 2021 Yes it is but it's a tight fit. You should be able to remove the rear mounts and then tip and twist is down and out of the cab hole. Quote
Jerry Roberts Posted December 15, 2021 Report Posted December 15, 2021 If it is a stock tank it should come out without cab removal . When i put my new tank in , i had to massage the sheet steel around the filler neck hole for the new tank . it is pretty thick steel . I see Ed beat me to the punch . Quote
