How do you install the clutch overcenter spring in 48 DeSoto?

I'm putting my clutch linkage back together, but have no idea how you put the overcenter spring back in.  It was easy to take off, but to put it back on would take the strength of Hercules!  Any ideas?  Do I need some kind of puller?  thanks,Marc.

You have to unscrew (lenghten) the turn buckle to be able to rehook it from the torque shaft  to the frame "L" hook bracket.

But first......

...accurately measure the turn buckle original as is length so you can put it exactly as it was from the factory if you have not already changed it.

Rotate pic 90 degree's to the left.

Thanks again.  I do have one of those clutch measuring tools.  Never thought of lengthening the clutch rod.  Sounds pretty easy as long as I get it back to factory setting.

Hey, I remember that spring !   The one I left tightened and stripped 2 of the mounting bolts while screwing them out with tension on them.

If you have the tool or good cardboard copy you use the tool to properly adjust the over center spring turn buckle.

Have not done it in this application, but sticking/wedging big washers into the spring to lengthen it then wrap it in a piece of tape so they don't pop out at the wrong moment, install spring then remove tape and washers.
