I want to replace the throw-out bearing on my B3B, but I'm not sure how the old bearing comes off the sleeve. I don't like applying force when I'm not sure what is holding it in place. Anyone know how to remove the old bearing from the sleeve? Is there a snap ring in there somewhere? Thanks.

It just presses off and on. The trick is finding a way to support the bearing to press out the sleeve. One of these bearing pullers can be useful if you have one.

Very true.  One of those when tightened will actually start moving the bearing as it wedges in place.  About the only use my 3/4drive socket set gets anymore is using a selected socket in the press for job like this   One of them is always a good fit to press things on/off.

If you don't have a splitter like this, a thin edged chisel will work by moving it around and gently tapping it in between the carrier and bearing.  Just remember easy on the hammer as the carrier can be broken fairly easily.   Since the bearing is not going to be reused, a little heat from a torch will expand it enough to loosen its hold on the carrier.

Merle and Ken,

Thanks very much. I have a puller like that and it should work. I hope this helps someone else with the same question.
