lucky 69 Posted May 20, 2021 Report Posted May 20, 2021 Hi all I wanted to see, I took rear end out awhile back came out a couple of weeks later and noticed it have leaked out a little fluid around the yoke. Not alot just a little. I didn't have it setting level. Is this normal or should I go ahead and replace seal or. Not to worry about it? It never has Shown signs of leaking was dry as a bone when removed. If I change what is the proper torque specs? Also what are the torque specs for the axle nut that holds drum on? Thanks for the info Quote
Merle Coggins Posted May 20, 2021 Report Posted May 20, 2021 It's possible that the level was a little low so you didn't notice any leakage in normal operating position. Then with it removed, and sitting pinion down hill, that oil migrated through the seal. If the seal allowed leakage then now is the time to replace it. Quote

It should be pretty straight forward to replace I hope. Hope some one will chime in on torque specs Just want to get it done right and axle nut too. Thanks Quote
9 foot box Posted May 21, 2021 Report Posted May 21, 2021 Drive pinion flange nut is 180 ft. lbs. minimum to 320 ft. lbs. Axle shaft nuts are 142 ft. lbs. minimum and tighten to get cotter pins in. Quote

I'd need a cheater pipe and some extra body mass for that too... Quote

Also going to mark were the pinion nut is set at before I take it off and put it back to the same position. Thanks again for the info Quote

If so I will have to call some friends I'm not that powerful. Quote
