sidevalvepete Posted March 4, 2021 Report Posted March 4, 2021 Ground has had a bit of a rattle on down here over the last few hours. Multiple small aftershocks and three ( so far ) biggies of 7.1, 7.4 and 8.1 on the Richter scale. No problems on my side of the Island but much of the northeast of the North Island has an evacuation order to high ground in case of tsunami. The action is happening to the northeast of NZ around the Kermadec Trench. We live on the ring of fire and quakes are quite common here but this is a bit more intense... Quote
TodFitch Posted March 4, 2021 Report Posted March 4, 2021 Went through the Northridge quake some years back and that was, if I recall correctly, a 6.8. I can’t imagine how a 7.1 much less a 8.1 would be. Take care! Quote
