Danielle Posted January 12, 2021 Report Posted January 12, 2021 Can someone please tell me how to keep the clutch linkage from clipping out.. I looked in the manual but it doesn't show how it hold together. It just keeps slippijg side to side. Can someone please take a photo of there's.. thanks so much Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted January 12, 2021 Report Posted January 12, 2021 A retaining spring clip fits in a groove of the torque shaft on the frame side of said shaft. Quote
61spit Posted January 12, 2021 Report Posted January 12, 2021 I think it looks kind of like this. I think it is part number 1140 557. They called it a snap ring. One goes on each end to hold the bearing pieces in place. 1 Quote
Danielle Posted January 12, 2021 Author Report Posted January 12, 2021 Can you take a picture of yours. I figured there is a way but not sure where to position it. It's a 51 plymouth but I'm guessing there are similar ones out there Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted January 12, 2021 Report Posted January 12, 2021 Looks like this....sometimes I've seen just the ring portion in the groove of the torque shaft. I think because the "ears" of the clip are broken off. Quote
Danielle Posted January 12, 2021 Author Report Posted January 12, 2021 Can someone please take a picture of there's on. Quote
Danielle Posted January 12, 2021 Author Report Posted January 12, 2021 I think I might have to fabricate.. I looked up the part number but didn't find it Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted January 12, 2021 Report Posted January 12, 2021 (edited) Sometimes a very hard part to find OE. Just use an internal snap ring using 90 degree snap ring pliers. Edited January 12, 2021 by Dodgeb4ya 1 Quote
Danielle Posted January 12, 2021 Author Report Posted January 12, 2021 Perfect ! Ok so the does the rounded end go over the bearings? Quote

Danielle Posted January 12, 2021 Author Report Posted January 12, 2021 Providing I get a way smaller one is this the correct placement Quote
Danielle Posted January 12, 2021 Author Report Posted January 12, 2021 Or does it go on the groove and the frame Quote
61spit Posted January 12, 2021 Report Posted January 12, 2021 It goes in the groove on the inside of the torque tube to hold the bearing pieces inside. 1 Quote
Danielle Posted January 13, 2021 Author Report Posted January 13, 2021 Ok thank you.. looks Iike I bought it wat too big.. heading over tomorrow to get smaller ones Quote
Danielle Posted January 13, 2021 Author Report Posted January 13, 2021 I found the original clip in my garage that dodgeb4ya posted. I don't know if I did this right but if I did.. now how do the bearings go in. Does the bearing go in first Quote
61spit Posted January 13, 2021 Report Posted January 13, 2021 Yes, the bearings need to be in place first. In your original posting picture it was all together you just needed the clip to hold it all in place. Slip the clip over the post that sticks out from the frame and squeeze the ears together and insert into the end of the torque tube and set it in the groove that is there and release the ears. That should lock it into the groove and hold the bearings in place. Quote
