Drewfinn Posted July 13, 2020 Report Posted July 13, 2020 Hello Folks! New guy to the forum. Working on a 51 Cambridge, have a bunch of questions, but, right now this is the one. I was cleaning up my transmission before reinstalling it and I found this spring on the ground... Uh...where do it go? Any ideas? Thanks! Quote
Tooljunkie Posted July 14, 2020 Report Posted July 14, 2020 If nobody’s lookin, the garbage can! does this transmission use a driveshaft brake assembly? Thats the only place i can see a spring being used externally on a transmission. Quote
rallyace Posted July 15, 2020 Report Posted July 15, 2020 That looks like it is the spring that goes in the handbrake assembly. Look in your manual for the hand brake and you can see where it goes. Quote
Go Fleiter Posted July 16, 2020 Report Posted July 16, 2020 Welcome, NewGuy! The Parts Book does show such a spring for the universal joints. In both housings is one each. They are secured inside under the sheet metal cap. In You hand, it seems to be small in my memory. Hand brake has other springs on my 51. See scans. Anyhow, don´t throw away, but sore into Your jam jar with orphan parts... Greetings from Düsseldorf! Go Quote
DJK Posted July 16, 2020 Report Posted July 16, 2020 Looks like 4-06-11 spring pictured in the parking brake Quote
