homer41 Posted January 30, 2020 Report Posted January 30, 2020 (edited) I have a number of caged nuts in the rockers of my 41 Plymouth that failed during disassemble. I could easily replace them except they are blind, meaning no access from the rear. Does anyone have a cure? I was thinking about just welding a nut in solid, any other thoughts are welcome. Andydodge Posted January 30, 2020 Report Posted January 30, 2020 Depending on the thread you maybe able to use nutserts, or there are various threaded things(forget their actual name) that are used in working with timber that have a flat side that attaches to timber and allows a screw or bolt to hold the two pieces together............lol...........when I was doing the rockers in my 40 Dodge I found all the original bolts either rusted out or stripped so welded in bolts hanging down and they are still fine 40 odd years later.........biggest hassle will probably be working out how to hold the nut there while you weld it in.........andyd Quote
