Plymouthy Adams Posted November 29, 2019 Report Posted November 29, 2019 and you have been told here to have it ground......turning WILL NOT remove the high hot spots... Quote
jgreg53 Posted November 30, 2019 Author Report Posted November 30, 2019 I pretty sure a new clutch and pressure plate are in order. And the release bearing is loosy goosy. Quote
Andydodge Posted November 30, 2019 Report Posted November 30, 2019 Clutch, pressure plate & throwout bearing are all part of the standard clutch rebuild process BUT if you don't have the flywheel SURFACE GROUND you are just asking for trouble and may as well not bother to replace anything and just bolt it up again..........as you will be pulling it apart sooner rather than later.........I have never heard of any reputable shop even suggesting turning a flywheel..........does this shop sell sausages, steak and other meat products?..........lol..........sorry for the humor but it MUST be surface ground..........andyd Quote

jgreg53 Posted November 30, 2019 Author Report Posted November 30, 2019 (edited) I'm sure all they did was removed the clutch pan and dropped the clutch components instead of removing the floor access. The flywheel wouldn't drop out until i loosened the bell housing a bit. That was more trouble than this shop wanted to be bothered with. They hoped i wouldn't notice. My shop manual actually said to remove the oil pan. I don't know why that would be done. Edited November 30, 2019 by jgreg53 Quote
Dartgame Posted December 3, 2019 Report Posted December 3, 2019 Suggestion - find out if there is a heavy truck clutch rebuilder near you. I did and they rebuilt my pressure plate, and disc., and properly resurfaced the flywheel. Quote
