RedHot71 Posted May 4, 2019 Report Posted May 4, 2019 Is there a more modern, easier to find parts for V-8 that will bolt into my B-3 Dump truck? And if so, is there some sort of adapter kit or something that I might need. It now has the big flathead six. Quote
NiftyFifty Posted May 4, 2019 Report Posted May 4, 2019 Very likely nothing modern is a “drop in”, so now is the time to look at a complete swap to a modern power train like a 360 or such, likely not that difficult on the big trucks with all the room under the hood. I just don’t recall if the rear engine mount/bell housing is apart of the frame on those and affects your pedals and master cyl Quote
Radarsonwheels Posted May 4, 2019 Report Posted May 4, 2019 Yeah if you do a 70s-80s carbureted 360 with 727 or 904 three speed trans it’s an easy swap with an aftermarket shifter and cable throttle/kickdown. Just three brackets to hold the motor/trans and get a driveshaft made. The old U joints are even the same size as the new ones sometimes. Or throw a 440 out of a motorhome or something in there if you want some more power! Quote
Old CWO Posted May 5, 2019 Report Posted May 5, 2019 How about a 12V Cummins? Industrial trucks should have industrial engines! Quote
