Ajgkirkwood Posted August 8, 2018 Report Posted August 8, 2018 Hello all. Been working making the old girl breath. While the head is out getting milled down 0.060” I been tackling the and intake and exhaust. Here’s some pictures! 3 Quote
Ajgkirkwood Posted August 8, 2018 Author Report Posted August 8, 2018 This will be my plenum to hopefully help balance out the carbs. It will sit between the carbs and the intake runners 1 Quote

Its 3”x2” about 20” long. 1/8” wall. Had square plates welded on the end and I ground it down and rounded he corners to match the tubing. Milled ‘fins’ on all sides and the holes line up with the carb mount on the header. 4 1 Quote

Ajgkirkwood Posted August 8, 2018 Author Report Posted August 8, 2018 What started for my headers was a pair of gmc v6 headers made by hedman headers (something like that) I bought it for the collectors at the end. Ended up using most of those headers to make mine. A lot of cutting and welding haha. I ordered in 1.5” steel tubing to finish them up. Runner lengths are 32-34”long on each. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted August 8, 2018 Report Posted August 8, 2018 Do you have nuts welded on the inside for attaching to the carbs and manifold, or do you have spacers inside to support using through bolts? Quote
Ajgkirkwood Posted August 8, 2018 Author Report Posted August 8, 2018 I have spacers in between the aluminum plenum to support the tube and not get crushed when I use bolts 1 Quote
dpollo Posted August 9, 2018 Report Posted August 9, 2018 I hope it runs as impressive(ly) as it looks. 1 Quote
Ajgkirkwood Posted August 9, 2018 Author Report Posted August 9, 2018 thank you. I hope so too. Need to figure out the piping for the rest of the exhaust and clean the header ports some more and put more paint on them Quote
Ajgkirkwood Posted August 16, 2018 Author Report Posted August 16, 2018 Head is back from the shop. Milled off 0.06” off it. Bolted down along with my intake and header. Carbs and plenum mocked up. Waiting for gaskets from rock auto that I ordered last night and need to buy bolts Quote
desoto1939 Posted August 17, 2018 Report Posted August 17, 2018 nice job that you are doing yourself. Looking at the last picture with the carbs on the plentum anhd sitting on the intake header manifold are you going to have enought room to have aircleaners ontop of the carbs and beable to close the hood or are you just going to leave the hood off the car. Just asking. You will have a butterfly hood that opens from the middle and folds upward correct? Rich Hartung Desoto1939@aol.com Quote
Ajgkirkwood Posted August 17, 2018 Author Report Posted August 17, 2018 Really hoping the hood fits aswell the front clip. I’m pretty sure it will but won’t know till it’s back on. I think I have about 2-3 inches above the carbs to put on some sort of filter. Maybe make one that spreads across all 3 carbs Quote
Ajgkirkwood Posted August 18, 2018 Author Report Posted August 18, 2018 took the rad off the front clip. Flushed it (it was gross) and installed the electric fans. (4) 9” fans. I tried making a shroud however clearance I believe would be an issue with the 265ci. Quote
