cornwall classics Posted July 13, 2018 Report Posted July 13, 2018 Was wondering if anyone has any advise on how to gain access to set the valve clearances on my D24 while engine is in the car. I know some of the trucks had a removable panel on the inner wing but there is no such panel on the car and think it is going to be difficult to do without removing both intake and exhaust manifolds. Any advise would be much appreciated. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted July 13, 2018 Report Posted July 13, 2018 the inner fender has a removable apron to which one can gain access....jack the car, safely support vehicle, remove the wheel, remove inner apron and you have the most space you gong to get without removing the fender itself. You will need a set of tappet wrenches also...on the average standard wrenches are cast a bit to thick..good gloves with gauntlets are also recommend at minimum a good thick sleeve... Quote
Don Coatney Posted July 13, 2018 Report Posted July 13, 2018 Best to favor a bit on the loose side when adjusting the valves. A slight tick is better than a burnt valve. And the adjustment should be done with a hot running engine. 1 Quote
keithb7 Posted July 14, 2018 Report Posted July 14, 2018 (edited) There are some instructions here. I got great results while checking valve clearances with engine running. http://p15-d24.com/topic/642-adjusting-valves/ Edited July 14, 2018 by keithb7 Quote
