John C. Posted June 30, 2018 Report Posted June 30, 2018 I'm restoring a D24 Convertible and was hoping someone could tell me about how much material was needed to do the entire inside. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted June 30, 2018 Report Posted June 30, 2018 One place that might know is SMS Fabrics company who sells antique car upholstery material. They have a web site you should be able to find. Quote
Tom Skinner Posted July 1, 2018 Report Posted July 1, 2018 (edited) Another way is to measure the Interior with a Cloth Measuring Tape. Much like the ones used by sewers. Remember to account for the seat backs, door panels, armrests, etc. Remember its all looked at as Square Yards by them. Edited July 1, 2018 by Tom Skinner Quote
normanpitkin Posted July 1, 2018 Report Posted July 1, 2018 I was told 6 to 7 square yards for a 41 chrysler windsor convertible in Highlander plaid. Quote
Branded Posted July 1, 2018 Report Posted July 1, 2018 Avoid SMS like the plague, once they get you money you’re at their mercy. Google them and read the reviews, a lot of unhappy customers. I’ll never deal with them again and wouldn’t advise anyone else either. Quote
DrDoctor Posted July 1, 2018 Report Posted July 1, 2018 Are you going to reupholster the car yourself? If not, I’d just let the shop you select deal with determining the amount of fabric they’ll need. They only charge on a time-and-material basis, the material being what they actually use for the project. Any leftover material goes into their inventory for future, unless you want to buy it, and store it yourself, in case you’d encounter damage of some sort, and you’d have an exact match (not considering fading from the sun, which is something to think about with a convertible . . .). Just a tho’t . . . . . Quote
John C. Posted July 2, 2018 Author Report Posted July 2, 2018 Thank you all for all the info. I was considering going with this company for material: https://www.leatherhidestore.com Quote

Greg51T&CWagon Posted July 2, 2018 Report Posted July 2, 2018 Whatever happened to ABC Upholstery in Philly? They had a huge inventory of original fabric. They did my Willys wagon's headliner in the correct woven straw years ago. I wonder who got their stock? Quote
