plymjim Posted June 20, 2018 Report Posted June 20, 2018 Went to an event at the local Shriner's club recently. This thing was circling the grounds. Only info available from one of their guys was that they've had it since 1970. Gas engine, sounded like a 6 cyl. but not able to peek under the hood. Interesting piece of equipment. Anybody have any idea if it's really a Plymouth?? Quote
DonaldSmith Posted June 20, 2018 Report Posted June 20, 2018 There was a small locomotive company called Plymouth. They were small, and they made small locomotives. The Detroit Zoo has a narrow-gauge railway that shuttles from one end to the other. The locomotive is modeled after the streamlined steqm locomotives of the 30's, but is powered by a Chrysler engine from the 30's. Quote

brian b Posted June 20, 2018 Report Posted June 20, 2018 Same name, but the locomotive company is no relation to the Plymouth automobile, and the locomotives do not have mopar engines. brian b Quote

JerseyHarold Posted June 20, 2018 Report Posted June 20, 2018 Our local railroad historical society has a small Plymouth locomotive. They give train rides and use it to pull the passenger cars. Quote
