What did period correct door mirrors look like. My predecessor choose an alternative that just doesn't work for me. Ugly could be the word for it :-)

well couple options here.....look on the internet under images for the year car you have and see if you can locate a picture of the style mirror that may suit your fancy.  Then/Or go to e-bay and type in vintage car door mirror and see what styles are being offered.  No one says you have to buy from e-bay, but for certain they can show you what is readily available to  you almost  immediately...I'd suggest walking through a junkyard but you do not have them available..

Your 49 MoPar car probably should use this factory optioned mirror....
