55 Fargo Posted August 6, 2007 Report Posted August 6, 2007 Hi, does anyone have any pics of there clutch linkage,"in car". I will be reassembling mine and want to make sure I do it right. My car is a 47 Chrsyler, originally equipped with Fluid Drive. It now has a standard trans and dry clutch, not sure if the clutch rods etc are from a 47 or some other year. I believe the only real difference between fluid drive and dry clutch, should be the clutch throw-out fork rod, it will or needs to be shorter than if a fluid drive is being used..........Thanx Fred Quote
Ed Griffin Posted August 6, 2007 Report Posted August 6, 2007 This doesnt show all of the linkage but I had it handy on photobucket and thought it may help some. This is off a first series 49 Dodge w/ fluid drive. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted August 6, 2007 Report Posted August 6, 2007 WOW!!! That looks complicated. Trucks are so much simpler. And if I had a non Fluid Drive truck it would be even more simpler. Merle Quote
Young Ed Posted August 6, 2007 Report Posted August 6, 2007 Its kinda at the back of this shot but the reg tranny trucks basically have no linkage at all. The pedal is directly connected to a bar which goes through the bellhousing and pushed the throwout bearing. Quote
55 Fargo Posted August 6, 2007 Author Report Posted August 6, 2007 Thanx Shel and everyone else that responded, now have a better idea of what goes where. When it comes time to install the trans, should I use short fibre grease on the end of the input shaft, how about the shaft itself, does it require some grease, so it's lubricated for the release bearing sleeve....Thanx Fred Quote
