bambamshere
I haven't started it yet but anyone no how hard it is to rebuild on of these carberators. The throttle is sticking and tried carb cleaner but didn't work. I don't know if I should try the seafoam spray or just rebuild it and when you try to give it gas it just boggs down almost to the point of stalling. Merle Coggins
Is the sticking throttle a problem with the carburetor or in the linkage? My throttle would sometimes hang up a little and wouldn't return to idle. I sprayed a little lube on the linkage rod where it goes through the bracket on the back of the block, as well as on any pivot point. It eliminated the problem. bambamshere
Ya that whats its doing is sticking so it doesn't return to idle. But when you step on it or rev it up it boggs right down. Not sure if some sefoam would help. Didn't want to rebuild the carb till winter. Kind of sounds like there is air going through the carb when it happens. I know fuel pump is alright. Could be the float sticking.

Sounds like you need a new accelerator pump plunger or .......sometimes you can soak yours over night in oil to fatten it back up.

NiftyFifty
Fairly easy carb to rebuild...likely your best bet is to do it now, if the truck sat its likely time...once it runs it could just start leaking from the dried out gaskets and that's a fire waiting to happen. bambamshere
So tomorrow I'm going to try and rebuild my Carberator. I called a few places and the all said about 200 to 300 to rebiuld it. It can't be that hard only thing is in the instructions of how to do it the have set the plunger at 3\8 of a inch and I'm no good and measurements. So might have problem there but ya should be fun lol
bambamshere
Forgot to ask I don't need anything like gasket glue or anything like it to rebuild the carb do I.

bambamshere
So took carburetor off the truck to rebuild and good thing I did. I one there was fuel sitting inside exhaust manifold. That could have been though me dumping gas into carburetor to start it. I went to dump out the fuel out of bowl and more gas came out from where the bowl gasket is then came out of the hole itself. Plus the gasket on manifold was all cracked and broken. wdoland
Look up Mike's Carburetor. He has all the parts you need and video on line of how to rebuild. Edited July 19, 2017 by wdoland
bambamshere
Does anyone know easy way to get aluminum plug out of carter b&b carberator. Guess at somepoint some one tried and wasn't successful and left it in it and broke of most of it. It has one of the jets in it.
NiftyFifty
Best to drill those out with a smaller bit, then put a screw in and pull out, but now that isn't 1/2 broken might not be possible...but shouldn't be any hidden Jets on the original carb...but I may be wrong, all of mine may have been long ago mussed with already. i do recommend you find yourself some dunk style carb cleaner and soak the carb a minimum of 18-24 hours, that will remove any varnish and gummed up ports you may not be able to cleanwith spray cleaner. Napa or Puston Ring should be able to supply, but it's pricey...but worth it.
bambamshere
I was going to use some lacquer thinner someone else said that would work. As good as carb cleaner and ut is cheaper. Like 20$
bambamshere
I was just looking at the throttle plate and the barrel looks like it has gotten some pits in it and rust. I'm goung ro have to clean and look at it better. But don't no what to do if it is.
NiftyFifty
Lacquer thinner is nòthing like real carb cleaner and won't eat 50 years of grime, but give it a shot....but at least buy yourself a can of spray cleaner and clean everything again after the lacquer before reassembly. If that carb is really pitted, it likely won't ever run smooth, and I'd be worried what it looks like inside

bambamshere
Ya not sure. I have to see if I can fix it but I think I may see if I can find another one thats newer. I have to move the truck so. Start looking around and start saving.
bambamshere
Ok so l was looking around Canadian Tire today for something to clean carb with. Couldn't afford the normal carb cleaner or dip. So in the autoparts side of the store I found some WD40 industrial cleaner and degreaser. Cost 20$. Wanted to try it because I needed something. Well put everything in there about 2 hrs ago and went to see how it was doing. I had also bought a denture brush it is a little harder the a actual tooth brush. Well it took all grease and carbon off. Hard to brush a few spots but carb is now clean. It even took off the white gas particles from the barrel made it nice and smooth. So it works but after you take out of the WD40 make sure you have some water around to clean it off. Because when it starts to dry little white spot appear but they was off. Fernando Mendes
The E7T2 I bought in ebay(remanufactored) from unitedautomotive(693*).It does not have the patent numbers under the bowl. Its throttle body number is I-237 and 28.Its air horn number is 6-636.Is these numbers correct for the E7T2?Why it does not have the patent numbers? When the throttle shaft lever is released the thottle plate is almost wide open. When the throttle adjusting screw is touching the choke connector lever shaft the throttle plate is totally closed. Is it ok this situation? bambamshere
I really just started wiping stuff off mine now but mine has the patent # on the bottom. But I can tell you so far is the # on the bowl is 0-661 and it has H-1 E7T2 and on throttle body it says I-642 and 15 hope that helps you. Fernando Mendes
We should find a book with all Carter B&B carburetor characteristics.
