Hello, I am looking for gas caps, and I'm not really sure about the measurements.

Has anyone used Stant gas caps? are they good? According to the people at Stant (by mail), it should be the part #10625,

"With the pictures that you sent me I would look at part number 10625 it is the same as the 10623  except it is for 1 7/8 filler neck diameter."

I'm not really sure how to measure filler neck diameter (in the narrow part? or where the extended bits on the cap are? it looks like it's the latter)

Thanks!

I'm surprised no one has replied to your question..........I have not heard of Stant gas caps but I know that there have been a couple of posts on this forum over the years about gas caps and that our cars should always use a cap that is vented..........the cap I have on my 1940 Dodge is actually an early 50's Oz GM  Holden cap so I suppose that its vented as I have not had any fuel delivery problems............can you check wether the Stant caps are vented?...........andyd

Fede,

Roberts sells really nice Stainless Steel Gas Caps. I got one for $6 about 8 years ago and I think they are still only about $12.

I still have mine on my 1948 Chrysler and get compliments on it at the shows I attend.

Stant produces gas caps that will fit your car that are made as vented and Non vented models  by the company.

Bought mine from Napa and made sure that the counter salesperson looked in the product book not just of the computer (that did NOT state such info) to make sure the cap was vented!

@Andydodge, I was guessing it should be vented, thanks for the confirmation!.  The current cap on the car is not in great shape, and since a new cap is cheap I was thinking about changing it. According to the Stant webpage, part 10625 is vented:

Product Line: Fuel Tank Cap
Part Number: 10625
Status: Available to Order
Height (IN): 3.50
Width (IN): 3.00
Length (IN): 3.50
Product Weight (LBS): 0.40
Description: OE Equivalent Fuel Cap - 2 7/8"" Vented (1 7/8"" x 7/8"" Shallow Cam)
Lock: Non-Locking

I bought one of the Mopar factory accessory electric gas cap off of eBay for my 49 Chrysler. It works real good and was easy to install. I enjoy showing it off because people don't believe it's a period correct factory gas cap. It cost  more than $8 but I think it's worth it.58f6d116a5501_gascapclosed.jpg.3a893f15f21c11aafc3b734a5b7000d7.jpg

Wow that cap is really nice looking!  And has a coolness factor about it that grabs me.
