fargo52 Posted February 8, 2017 Report Posted February 8, 2017 I am thinking you might want to submit this on the H.A.M.B there might be more response over there . Quote
furiousgeorge Posted February 8, 2017 Report Posted February 8, 2017 I'm gathering parts for a 440/727 to put on my '48 1/2 ton. I haven't been able to get out to measure one yet, but I'm thinking that the transmission mount/crossmember from an '80's Ram would be close enough to make work. 1 Quote
wayfarer Posted February 8, 2017 Report Posted February 8, 2017 ...a couple of random thoughts..... You need to be aware of the pre-62 vs. post-63 block, crankshaft and transmission differences as they will not interchange. It is not reasonable to expect an exact bolt-in crossmember to exist for a transmission that was many years away. You might find some usable info here: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/52-dodge-b3b-hemi-project.742584/ Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted February 8, 2017 Report Posted February 8, 2017 I read per a mopar website that the distance from the bell housing/block joint to the actual rear mount that is the tranny mount itself is same regardless if auto or standard, 6/8 TILL the introduction of the A500/A518 and later trannies...you may wish to verify this...sorry but I did not earmark that source from long ago...searching these parameters online may make for a fast fact find.. tattooman43 Posted February 10, 2017 Author Report Posted February 10, 2017 still no help there either Quote
59bisquik Posted February 10, 2017 Report Posted February 10, 2017 Since your 54 has a transmission crossmember that the 53 and earlier dont have, it might not be all that difficult. The rear engine mounts are attached to the rear of the bell housing and sit on the crossmember. Its possible that you could fab up a simple bracket from that crossmember to the 727 mount since that tranny is pretty short. 1 Quote
