Cudan Posted December 17, 2016 Report Posted December 17, 2016 hi, Busy to clean my frame form dirt, paint and rust and i found these 3 holes, see pic, in front of the 3 holes off the steering box . There was nothing attached in these holes, who knowes there purpose ? Cudan Quote
dale Posted December 17, 2016 Report Posted December 17, 2016 My frame there has several unknown holes all over the place. Could be assembly locating holes. Quote
Cudan Posted December 17, 2016 Author Report Posted December 17, 2016 ok, ik hope i can use them for the future relocating of the upper shockmount. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted December 17, 2016 Report Posted December 17, 2016 If I were to guess you have the same holes in the same position on the other side outer frame rail..the larger hole appears to be that of a gauge hole..an alignment when jigged and welding the frames They are later used for the most part for checking against damage in a repair involving possible frame damage.. Cudan Posted December 17, 2016 Author Report Posted December 17, 2016 correct, on the other side the same holes. Quote
Andydodge Posted December 17, 2016 Report Posted December 17, 2016 I'm pretty sure that the two holes beside each other are threaded holes that the two bolts holding the brake hose bracket use..............I seem to remember that the 3rd larger hole may have been for a locating "tang" on the bracket........but could be wrong tho'...........the 2 threaded holes would not have enough strength to attach a shock bracket.............andyd 1 Quote
DrDoctor Posted December 18, 2016 Report Posted December 18, 2016 Could they be locating holes for positioning the frame pieces in the jig prior to its being welded into the final unit??? Thx. Quote
41P11Coupe Posted December 18, 2016 Report Posted December 18, 2016 Cudan I just went and looked at my 48 Special Deluxe, same holes and nothing in them. Ken Quote
Andydodge Posted December 18, 2016 Report Posted December 18, 2016 Am still pretty sure the 2 holes are for the brake hose bracket..........at least that's where the bracket was on both sides here in Oz............andyd Quote
DrDoctor Posted December 18, 2016 Report Posted December 18, 2016 Hmmmmm . . . I’ve been studying the photo herein, and I’m convinced Andydodge’s on the right track. I’ll bet they’re for exactly what he suggested – the bracket for the flexible brake hose from the frame to the front brake cylinder. I was going to look at the frame on our car, but it’s toooo cold, and I’m toooo old, to be crawling around on the cold concrete floor. So, I’m still casting my vote for Andy’s tho’t!!! Thx. Quote
