Hi, I am struggling to find out what the threads are on the brake and fuel union nuts on my 1954 dodge pickup C-1-B6 . I am replacing all hard and soft pipes which are 1/4" brake line and 5/16" fuel line. So help needed to find out so new can be bought. Brake look 7/16" and fuel look 1/2". Any help most welcome, Cheers, Dave.....UK

that is what appears to be the wrench size....what is the diameter of the tube.....this is how you will locate the backing nuts/unions needed....they are most common to any big box store...I just walked to the shop to get the brand name but while I had the blister pack..Ihad removed the brand card within...go to your local parts house..they can help.

again, take these tube sizes and a removed example with you to the store...you can buy the tubes already assembled in various lengths and use unions to join and fit as needed......and of course you can net the new nickel tube that is non corrosive...If you choose to buy bulk tube you will need the flaring tool to successfully be able to do a double flare.  this is why most are sold in finished lengths and the unions that connect them.....

these line are available in SAE and Metric....that is your main concern when buying the tubes...you will be using SAE

in the UK as they fit with SAE also....all my little English cars use standard fittings as such in the states  EXCEPT  that they usually will use a female connector and maybe a bubble fitting here or there...I am not sure how the parts stores are in you neck of the world but here I am afforded the opportunity to look at parts on hands when trying to match up fitting...especially in the area of flex brake lines.

According to SAE specification J512, Fitting thread sizes for inverted flare 1/4 inch diameter tube is 7/16-24.  For 5/16 diameter tube the inverted flare fitting thread is 1/2-20.  I just did the brake lines on my B1B and purchased some fittings from Summit Racing.  The poly bags the fittings came in showed "Edelmann" as the manufacturer.  Regards
