SpecialK Posted June 20, 2016 Report Posted June 20, 2016 Hey guys, i have a problem with my rear axle. It is very noisy. I fear these are the spidergears. It Also has a lot of clearance ( play?) within. What can I do? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted June 20, 2016 Report Posted June 20, 2016 per the manual and assembly noted for these parts it seems those are just thrust block spacers....they are there to hold the thrust block center relative to the side gears and the only requirement is that the side gears and thrust block has a .004 to .012 clearance.. 1 Quote
SpecialK Posted June 20, 2016 Author Report Posted June 20, 2016 I can move the gears. There is more than .012 clearance. I will measure it tomorrow. Can I adjust the gears? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted June 20, 2016 Report Posted June 20, 2016 (edited) the spiders (pinion) ARE NOT the side gears...side gears are the ones that the axle slides into.... Edited June 20, 2016 by Plymouthy Adams 2 Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted June 20, 2016 Report Posted June 20, 2016 Going straight ahead the spider and side gears do not rotate. So going straight do you still hear the noise? If so I'd be checking the ring and pinion gears and bearings for noise.. I assume the axle shaft bearings look good? Quote
SpecialK Posted June 21, 2016 Author Report Posted June 21, 2016 when i go straight ahead i hear nothing. Only by rotating the spider and side gears. Quote
