Looking for some help. I am new to this forum and the dodges.

I have a 1947 4 door and the thing just won't start. she cranks OK, but seems to have no spark at the plugs. I have replaced the coil, plugs. wires, and switched from points to the Ignitor electronic ignition. Not sure why I still am having issues.

One question I do have for anyone who has made this conversion...it says to connect the black wire to the ignition switch. Where you you made that connection?

I think that may be my problem.Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Petronox on their web site has wiring diagrams for each of their units. I looked at some of these and they show one wire from the distributor going to one side of the coil and the other wire going to the opposite side of the coil. Check out a diagram for the model you purchased.

...did it run before the electronic install?

not at the time of the install, that was one reason for the upgrade. not saying this is the issue, but still trying to troubleshoot.

I used the instructions that came with the unit, but being new to this style car, was looking for experienced advice. The particular model that is designed for the 47 show one wire to the Neg. (-) and the other wire to the ignition switch, just not sure where to wire that one since this car has the key and push button start. Thanks again for any help.

Not to be a smart a$$, but type "pertronix" in the search box at the top right, make sure the right side of the search box shows "forums". You should get quite a few results.

I assume your wiring is original. If this is the case, there should be a wire that goes thru the firewall and was attached to the negative terminal of the coil. This wire is from the ignition switch and is what you are looking for. Disconnect this wire from the coil then attach the ignition wire from the ignitor to this wire. Prior to making the connection, turn on the ignition to make sure there is power to this wire then turn it off. Along with this there should be a wire from the positive terminal of the coil to ground. This information I got from looking at the wiring diagram for the ignitor and for your car.

So, in summary, the car wasn't running and had a suspected ignition problem and the fix was to put in an electronic ignition and the car still won't run?

If I have got this straight, then there is a chance that there is some other problem that swapping the method of creating a timed high voltage spark did not cure.
