Pertronix Installation help

I purchased a Pertronix ignition kit for my '52. I have a couple of questions about the wiring.

 

Currently, On my 52 6 volt positive ground system, the + side of the coil goes to the ignition switch ( I assume that someone reversed the coil), and the - side goes to the distributer (points). The wiring diagram from Pertronix sends one of it's wires to the ignition, one to the - side of the coil and says to ground the + side of the coil to the block.

 

Should I wire the Pertronix ignition to the + side of the coil or follow the wiring diagram and wire to the - side? 

 

I don't want to burn anything out, so I thought I would ask some of you gents who have installed these kits.

follow the wiring on the Pertronix instruction sheet...they will not warrant a misconnected unit in my opinion.  Yes the coil is at present wired backward GIVEN the battery is connected positive ground...no big deal for normal points ignition and the lower rpm's these flatheads run...the only significant change you will notice here is the other side of the contact sacrifices metal.

It would be best if you bought and installed a matched coil from Pertronix. From what I understand  failures that have been reported are often as a result of having the wrong coil. You should follow their instructions to the letter........including wire size.

Thank you guys, I appreciate the info. I will follow the wiring instructions. Before I ordered the coil and kit, I talked to a tech at Pertronix to make sure I picked the right setup.
