JPP Posted March 31, 2016 Report Posted March 31, 2016 Ok tore the engine down, added new vales, rings, gaskets, etc. lined up oil pump per manual instruction, then went to put in distributor and rotor points to ten o'clock. Where did I go wrong? Thanks Quote

Plymouthy Adams Posted March 31, 2016 Report Posted March 31, 2016 first off..was your gear indexed at 7 prior to tear down.....ensure TDC one...that number one plug wire is at 7 and if so ..index your oil pump to achieve this match... 1 Quote
Merle Coggins Posted March 31, 2016 Report Posted March 31, 2016 As I recall the instruction says to align the drive slot a specific way then turn he gear back one tooth before installing it. This is to account for the twist as the helical teeth slide into place. I suspect you may have turned the gear the wrong direction. Merle 1 Quote
