Dodgeb4ya Posted March 2, 2016 Report Posted March 2, 2016 (edited) I'm not 100% sure about what this R-6 overdrive transmission fits . Maybe a cable shift cover? 1939 Plymouth? Anyone have ideas? Edited March 2, 2016 by Dodgeb4ya Quote
Lloyd Posted March 2, 2016 Report Posted March 2, 2016 (edited) I have been looking for an R6 to fit my 39 P8. Not sure what the other side of your trans looks like but the shifting cable should attach to the drivers side of the transmission along with a single shifting lever. I have included a picture of the original 3 speed that came out of my 39 P8. You can see the shifting lever and at the top is the hole where the cable bolts to. Edited March 2, 2016 by Lloyd Quote
plyroadking Posted March 2, 2016 Report Posted March 2, 2016 Looks like the one I pulled out of a 39 Chrysler, it's a top loader trans with the factory adapter to work with the rod and cable column shift that was used in 39 Quote
dpollo Posted March 2, 2016 Report Posted March 2, 2016 The floor shift from earlier models will fit this transmission and the 39s featured an electric kick down. It was only installed in Plymouths built for export but could be found in Chryslers and Desotos in USA and Canada Quote

While that could be put into a Plymouth, it came out of a Desoto or Chrysler. I would need to see a few more pictures. There is a date code cast into it and over on my blog you may be able to figure it out on the spotters guide thread. http://p15-d24.com/blog/17/entry-88-the-rough-field-spotters-guide-for-mopar-overdrives/ Tim Quote
