1940plymouth Posted January 27, 2016 Report Posted January 27, 2016 Drove up to the Roscoe Diner for a cup of coffee this morning. I took Rt 17 West up, then came back via old Rt 17, stopped in Livingston Manor to cross the Van Tran covered bridge that was built in 1865. There were snow flurries in Roscoe, but it was nice an toasty in the Plymouth. Just a nice morning to go for a ride 5 Quote

1940plymouth Posted January 29, 2016 Author Report Posted January 29, 2016 Here is one from three or four years ago when out for coffee with a friend of mine. This diner is located in Livingston Manor, NY just a few miles below the Covered bridge that I often post photos of 2 Quote
JerseyHarold Posted January 30, 2016 Report Posted January 30, 2016 Route 17 (the 'Quickway') was voted the most scenic highway in America in the 1960's and deserves the honor. I've been on it hundreds of times and always appreciate the view. 1 Quote
1940plymouth Posted January 30, 2016 Author Report Posted January 30, 2016 This is one of my favorite views of Rt 17, I am driving towards Liberty on old rt 17 with new 17 off to the right. Another nice spot is in the Hancock area where you have the River, the railroad and Rt 17 all running along each other. 2 Quote
40plyrod Posted January 30, 2016 Report Posted January 30, 2016 I always like your pictures. Looks like a nice place to live, I'll have to add it to my "places to see" list. 1 Quote
1940plymouth Posted February 3, 2016 Author Report Posted February 3, 2016 Out again this afternoon, stopped at this diner in Livingston Manor to give them a copy of a photo that I antiqued. It is now hanging on the wall there 5 Quote
1940plymouth Posted February 6, 2016 Author Report Posted February 6, 2016 Out and about again today, temps about 40 degrees, lots of sunshine, so off I went. This time we even stopped at the Roscoe Diner again for coffee and homemade blueberry pie Might get out again tomorrow, as there is a snow storm looming for sometime Monday into Wednesday, 3 Quote

Niel Hoback Posted February 21, 2016 Report Posted February 21, 2016 Nice picture, Bob, nothing like following that little chrome ship to see where it takes you. 1 Quote
1940plymouth Posted February 29, 2016 Author Report Posted February 29, 2016 I was on the road to Frost Valley this afternoon, I stopped to take these two photos. During the summer of 1993 we had a spell of heavy rain, this boulder came sliding down the mountain side. The second photo shows the path that it took coming down 3 Quote
dpollo Posted March 4, 2016 Report Posted March 4, 2016 Thanks Bob for your many pictures. Somehow I always confused New York with New York City and your photography has set me straight. Time to get my 40 out for a run too. dp 1 Quote

Labrauer Posted April 1, 2016 Report Posted April 1, 2016 Gotta love those country roads. I love the pictures of all the great scenery on your drive. This place looks like a very nice place to live and burn up the roads in an old car. I will take a trip one day in my 48 Plymouth when I have the time and the money to get away but down here in the Gulf coast we haven't got many country roads with that kind of beauty to take in. I also love the car. Is the car original with engine or did you replace the flat head? Larry 1 Quote
1940plymouth Posted April 1, 2016 Author Report Posted April 1, 2016 Larry. I have a rebuilt 1950 Plymouth engine in it. When we got it in 1988 it had a 1941 Plymouth engine, which finally gave up the ghost a few years ago. I have done body work to her and my son painted her 16 years ago. She is basically stock other than the tires and wheels The paint we used was Rustoleum Teal, and over the course of the past 16 years the paint has aged well and I love the Patina that it now has, along with the scratches and dulled paint. Labrauer Posted April 1, 2016 Report Posted April 1, 2016 She is one beauty of a car. I hope my 48 will be as dependable as yours so I can rely on her on a long trip. Quote
mrwrstory Posted April 12, 2016 Report Posted April 12, 2016 (edited) Went to visit my young friend Mike who is thrashing on a Suburban to drive to Canada this Summer. We have coffee and kick tires 'bout once a week. We live in So Cal's urban sprawl. But for those who think So Cal is all concrete, traffic and smog, this is what you get by going the back way at 8:30 Monday morning, It's just three miles from my house and less than two miles from I-5 - - - The canopy was because of the liquid sunshine!
