finmad Posted December 4, 2015 Report Posted December 4, 2015 I am trying to Isolate a vibration at high speed and someone I trust more than me, said it is probably the u joint(s). He said if I replace one I should replace both (sounds logical). My problem is I do not know where to get them from. Vintage has them, but three different types. Does anyone know where I can get the correct u joints for a 1947 WD-15 Cross and roller type held in with lock plates? Quote
finmad Posted December 4, 2015 Author Report Posted December 4, 2015 After I posted, I was able to find them at Detroit Trucks. Good customer service.... Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted December 4, 2015 Report Posted December 4, 2015 perhaps you could share the number of the part you found and the link to the company mentioned as a service back to the forum you posted your question Quote

Desotodav Posted December 4, 2015 Report Posted December 4, 2015 If you are removing the tailshaft... there should be an arrow on the front end of the shaft which lines the shaft up with the arrow on the yoke. Would be best to re-install it in the right position. Depending how far you want to go... you may want to consider checking the balance of the tailshaft as well (while you have it off). Quote
austinsailor Posted December 5, 2015 Report Posted December 5, 2015 Does this u joint also fit the 48? I have one new one installed, but the other is not shot but would be better if it was new as well. Quote

I was thinking the same thing. Is it something you can do at home? or does it need to go to a shop for that? Quote
