Good looking ute Lee. I have a couple of mates doing them up here in Oz (one is a Dodge and the other a Desoto).

Your mate that is doing the Desoto need some emblems? I have extras.

A set of roof quarter medallions and some reproduction new plastic inserts (I found NOS) and a plastic insert for the horn button. If he is doing a hot rod I am looking for better hubcaps.

Lee, yours is a nice car also........they used to be fairly common but as time flies..........lol.........although there have been a couple of the Chrysler Royal versions around here, essentially the same body shell with 55/56 Plymouth fenders grafted onto the front and rear..........Oz oddities........lol...............btw Hi Dav.......lol.............andyd

In all my days I haven't ever seen that car and now that I have I love it. I had no idea that car even existed any where. It reminds me of the elcamino but has a much better look. I sure would like to find one of those with the steering wheel on the right side of the car like the American cars. Where were these made, here in the USA or over seas?

What a good looking car.

I saw one at Carlisle one year. I thought it was a beautiful flower cad until I saw it was righthand drive. The one I saw was a Plymouth I believe.

The one you saw at Carlise was brought over by an Australian. He and some of his mates shipped over the carsto California and drove acoss the states ending at Carlisle or Hersey before selling their cars to fly home. You may have seen it withthe new owner. I also owned a Plymouth but it has found a new home.

Yep, we have had utes by Ford, Mercury,Chev, Pontiac, Willys, Dodge, Plymouth, Desoto and many more from the early 1930's to the late 50's.......all are unique to Oz, some were basically the same from the cowl forward as the equivalent year USA make whilst others used distinctly Australian combinations of sheetmetal and grilles but the main feature of a Ute is the use of one piece sides from the rear door edge back.....whereas the USA Pickups apart from being a larger vehicle used a separate carry bed..........the El Camino and Ranchero are the USA versions of our utes.........lol.......andyd
