MATT47025 Posted August 12, 2015 Report Posted August 12, 2015 So we are almost ready to put our 50 half ton on the road. We noticed on one side the rim was wobbling. We thought maybe it was the rim but when we switched rims the other one wobbled also. Any thoughts??????? Quote
NiftyFifty Posted August 12, 2015 Report Posted August 12, 2015 Bent axle shaft is the most likely answer, pull them and see if their both straight 1 Quote
White Spyder Posted August 12, 2015 Report Posted August 12, 2015 Loose some weight!!!! if it has been setting for a bit might have some water or mud in the tires. Quote
jeffsunzeri Posted August 13, 2015 Report Posted August 13, 2015 Some folks without the proper puller get pretty aggressive with torches and hammers on these rear drum and axle assemblies and end up warping the drum and sometimes the axle shaft itself. Before pulling the axles, try swapping drums from left to right. 1 Quote
Jeff Balazs Posted August 13, 2015 Report Posted August 13, 2015 You might even check to see if some debris or burr is preventing the wheel itself from seating evenly on the drum. Jeff Quote
The Oil Soup Posted August 13, 2015 Report Posted August 13, 2015 Did the rim from the opposite side run true before you swapped it? Quote
MATT47025 Posted August 14, 2015 Author Report Posted August 14, 2015 Hey guys, been a busy week. Well Dad pulled the axle out and cleaned it up and it runs true now but we have more problems. The axle on the problem side has about 3/16 in and out play. In addition the rear end sounds terrible. Quote
NiftyFifty Posted August 15, 2015 Report Posted August 15, 2015 Sounds like jeep axle time to me Quote
