Conn47D24 Posted July 6, 2015 Report Posted July 6, 2015 Next step. I am learning that all is not what is was or seems to be. Working on the Knuckle unit now and was set to install new " PIN " bushing in the lower end. The OLD one looks threaded and screwed out and smooth back in. The NEW one is similar to the inner upper / lower control arm bushings, as it appears to cuts its way in. I hesitate to just jam the new bushing into the threaded knuckle before consulting with you here. Advice please from all. Many thanks again. Clay Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted July 6, 2015 Report Posted July 6, 2015 Never seen one like that. From Roberts/Kanters or the like? The new bushing has that new China black shiny glazed look. It ( lower threaded pin bushing) should thread in with out making new threads or binding excessively. I'd get a NOS or NORS bushing. Quote
Ulu Posted July 6, 2015 Report Posted July 6, 2015 Not the right bushing at all. The head is too small & the threads are all wrong. Mine all look like the left one. Quote
Conn47D24 Posted July 6, 2015 Author Report Posted July 6, 2015 I was afraid of this. I'll contact AB fir exchange. Thank you Clay Quote
Andydodge Posted July 7, 2015 Report Posted July 7, 2015 I have seen these lower outer bushes with 2 different size heads and the rubber seal with 2 different sized molded internal holes to suit each size bush head........but have never seen a bush with its outer "thread" like that black one shown........I would only use it if nothing else was available and even then I'd be a little leery about it........try and get another NOS......as far as I know these bushes are the same 1940 to 1956, apart from maybe the head size which makes no difference to the use or suitability.......andyd 1 Quote
