Plymouthy Adams Posted August 8, 2015 Report Posted August 8, 2015 the OD should vent to the tranny...the input shaft cover on the transmission is the vent...it is a recycling vent in that it is positioned to drain back into the transmission the volume of oil it should puke...by not over filling the tranny the tendency to puke is less... Dodgeb4ya Posted August 8, 2015 Report Posted August 8, 2015 A double shielded front bearing is a bad idea on the BW R10 OD. Pressure build up. Single shield is correct. No shield is really bad.lotsa leaking at the front. Quote
bighammer48 Posted August 8, 2015 Report Posted August 8, 2015 I hope to get it back together by Monday or Tuesday. I am painting all of the engine accessories today. I took almost everything off when I decided to start this bearing because I had a cracked exhaust manifold also. Got an NOS one off eBay. I decided to paint the engine and all of the accessories while it was apart. Quote
doctor dirt Posted August 8, 2015 Author Report Posted August 8, 2015 I get the OD venting back to the tranny box but the tranny doesn't need a "vent"? The input shaft cover does the trick? Did this guy do any harm if he actually did add a "line out vent"? Does this ever end!! Doc Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted August 8, 2015 Report Posted August 8, 2015 If he did the vent with a small pipe or hose and ran it up with a loop it should be ok. But what caused the need for a vent is the question.... if it proves to be the oil leak fix? Might be the install of a dual shielded front bearing. Quote
bighammer48 Posted August 8, 2015 Report Posted August 8, 2015 Searched the Internet for the main bearing seal. I had all of the interchange numbers, and none was available, so I went to Bernbaum. NAOA did not have any of the interchange numbers. Quote
