I have the shop manual but it doesn't show how to get the bolts that are holding the ornament retainer from the backside of the steering wheel. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted May 10, 2015 Report Posted May 10, 2015 Can you lie in the seat, and look at the back side of the steering wheel...? There should be two or three holes ...... and you will need probably a Phillips screwdriver If not Phillips..........then use a flat blade.. They come out turning to the left.......just like backing out any bolt. Should let the horn ring center come off. Quote
meadowbrook Posted May 10, 2015 Report Posted May 10, 2015 You just hand pull the ornament from the wheel. Not the ring, but the center chrome piece that holds the dodge symbol then you can see the bolts that hold the ring and the big nut that holds the wheel. Quote
Coronet1950 Posted May 12, 2015 Author Report Posted May 12, 2015 The Chrome ring that holds the ornament is bolted into the steering wheel. The bolt heads are on the backside of the steering wheel. There is a housing that is for the turn signal I believe (lever is gone). I can't find a space to get to those bolts to get the ornament ring off. The shop manual does not show or talk about these 3 bolts. I am not a newbie of working on cars. If it was as simple as unscrewing a bolt I would be posting this now would I? Is anybody else have a ornament retainer that is bolted into the steering wheel? Quote

Dodgeb4ya Posted May 12, 2015 Report Posted May 12, 2015 That chrome cap is held on by three spring clips. Pop the chrome cap and medallion off as one piece! The three screws only hold the horn ring retainer on... undrneath the top chrome cover. Bob Quote

Ulu Posted May 14, 2015 Report Posted May 14, 2015 (edited) I don't get this either. My P-15 just has three #2 Phillips screws that go thru the wheel. Stick a shorty screwdriver between the instrument panel & wheel & there they are. Oooohhh...1950 Coronet eh? Does this car have a little "cowl" between the wheel & instrument panel? Just saw that old crusty wheel off to get at your horn ring and cap! I was going to post the link.... but am a bit too tired to go back and get it right now. Old age you know Quote
