desoto1939 Posted April 27, 2015 Report Posted April 27, 2015 Terry, What do you mean by Balance a clutch assembly? Rich HArtung Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted April 27, 2015 Report Posted April 27, 2015 You can only assume the replacement clutch plate and disc are already balanced. The FD driven plate is factory balanced of course with the original disc and pressure plate cover. I know a guy that has a vibration coming from the fluid drive (rebuilt by a firm in Texas) and has had no luck finding anyone nation wide who can balance it. A good replacement is the answer on that issue. Quote
Dave72dt Posted April 27, 2015 Report Posted April 27, 2015 They are already balanced. If you were to take the pressure plate assembly apart, you may find some divots in the heavy plate on the spring side. Those are the balancing divots made with a drill. The disc itself is supposed to be round so no balancing on it is needed. The fluid drive section may or may not have weights welded to the exterior, same as is done on external balanced torque converters plus the fluid itself should act as it's own dampener. A clutch rebuild service may be able to balance them. It's not a diy project Quote
