Iam in the middle of the gas guage dance i have read all the post but couldnf find my answerd. I've converted to 12 v the wire from the switch witch side of the guage does it go to tall post or short. Thanks for any help

I cannot document this, but I think all short posts are single wire, power in, tall posts are power out and so the taller posts allow for more connections.

Trying to determine if I got two bad guages . On both with the wire coming from keyswitch to the guage conected I get no juice on the other post with my test light but the guage does go to full. Can the needle move and the guage still be bad? Thanks again

I doubt that there would be enough current coming out of the gauge to run a test light. Probably need a voltmeter for that test. On the other hand, a short piece of wire and a sending unit can be attached and you can see if the gauge reads correctly for the different float positions.

You did put a resister in the circuit to the guage right?  If you've got the other side grounded (sending unit wire) and put 12v to it w/o the resistor you'll fry the guage just about as quick as you can turn the key off.

After the fact I put a runz on it I am guessing I need a new guage . That's why I was confused the needle still moves to full so can the guage be bad and the needle still move?
