I used the high temperature stuff from POR-20 and painted the manifold while it was on the engine. In fact, I painted the entire engine with that high temp stuff back in April. Now its the end of June and I must have put 300 miles on it by now and it still looks good. I'll let you know next year.

I painted my engine and manifolds on my '48 Chrysler , intake and exhaust with the high temp and engine with the engine enamel about six years ago, it has held up well, with some age showing on the exhaust manifold, I have ran it about 7,000 miles, some of that on some longer trips over some mountain passes that heated the exhaust manifold right up to the max. I sand blasted the manifolds and cooked them between coats in the oven to cure the paint, didn't do much for my popularity around home for a few days. Good stuff, in my opinion.

Thanks for the input. Did any of you guys prep the manifold with something called Metal Ready which supposedly gently etches the metal and neutralizes the rust? Just trying to figure out if this is a necessary step.

I used the hi temp aluminum color of Por 15....about $15 for a can.....but worth it. It's lasted well for 7 or 8 years now. Just touched it up on the top side this summer.

Put mine on with a brush, engine in car, attached a stick to handle of the brush to get down on bell housing and other out of the way places.

When I purchased the POR-15 and the top coat, the kit came with Metal ready and the Marine cleaner. I used then both on my manifold and engine prior to the POR-20 High Temp Silver.

If you do a search of POR-15 you will come up with a source. Yep, shipping is expensive but so is the paint.

My local Autobody supplier sells por-15 products. Call around, you may find a guy in your area. Good luck.

Ya there is one auto parts place here that sells it too. They carry the gas tank kits POR15 and the engine paint. Plus the metal convertors etc. Never seen the manifold paint but I'm sure if they don't carry it they would get it.
