dodgem48 Posted June 20, 2007 Report Posted June 20, 2007 Does anyone know where I can purchase the right size defroster hose for my 1948 /12 ton pickup? The o.d. of the heater outlets and the defroster input tubes is 1 3/4". I have been searching the internet but have not been succesful. Quote
Normspeed Posted June 20, 2007 Report Posted June 20, 2007 Hi, you might try JC Whitney. I know they have the larger size such as the 4" I need, and it's the real stuff made of something like a rubberized cloth with a spiral wire inside. It was in one of their recent paper catalogs. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 If you can't find any correct hose, you might be able to use an old vacuum cleaner hose. I have one piece of that on mine. No one sees it anyway. I had to use duct tape to attach the hose....but who knows besides me? Will find the right stuff eventually. Quote

Its the 1-3/4" size rubberized wire wound heater duct. My local area could only come up with one box of it which is 6' in length. Be sure to specify the 6' box and not by the foot. Only problem is it seems to be very hard to find. I need one more box myself. There is also a supplier that has been mentioned on the forums before but for the life of me I can't find their information. A while back someone had asked whether anyone had purchased from them before and there were positive responses. Sorry thats the best I can do! If you find more than a couple of boxes of the NAPA hose get one for me and I'll pay you back Brad Quote
Young Ed Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 My napa ordered me a box from some other NAPA warehouse. I think it came out of Chicago or something. I did have to pay a few bucks for them shipping it up here but it wasn't too bad. Quote

Their phone number is 978-363-5407. They also have a web page. They sell nothing but old Mopar parts. There is another company in Mass that competes with them and sells identical items, but I can't remember their name right now. I have bought parts from both, and have no complaints with either. Quote
