Rear Axle Outer And Inner Seals - New SKF Numbers

This is for my 1951 Dodge D39 Business Coupe project. The Canadian Dodge  is really a Plymouth with Dodge trim and all Canadian numbers match US numbers. I recently replaced my pinion seal with an updated SKF neoprene seal with the SKF number being 18880, mentioned in a previous posted topic http://p15-d24.com/topic/37826-pinion-seal-type-preference/. Fit was good so I thought I would also replace the axle seals as the axles are presently out. I will provide both the old Mopar number and its SKF equivalent, all made in the USA or so the package states. My parts book only goes to 1954 but these parts numbers may go past that. Also, the inner seal is only good for 1949 onwards and has a different number than the P15, D24, etc. Inner seal numbers are Mopar 1139896 and the SKF number is 13892. The outer seal  number is good from 1946 - 1954 according to my parts book. Mopar number is 859164 and the SKF number is13797.

 

I have no connection to SKF. These are the seals my auto parts store came up with and brought in for me the next day. Please check your own usage but according to both my parts book and their cross referencing, these seals are right. Dimensions are certainly the same as I checked them before paying for them. Again according to my parts book, these seals are good for Plymouth, Dodge, Desoto, and all six Cylinder Chryslers.

RobertKB,     I bought a new SKF seal  for my 48 Dodge from Napa, they only had one.

                     After some research, SKF was out of stock also.

                     SKF seals, (maybe not all), stamped "USA", are not always made in the USA.

                      The "USA" seals I finally got came from Zhiengzhang, that is near Shanghai,

                       and is not part of USA as far as I know.       The company there makes good

                       quality seals, and for big truck, buses, etc. also.            The seals I got would

                       cost $1.48 each, if I would buy 1000 units.
