Guest aunteeks Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 Is there anyone in this group around the Des Moines area? I'm just NE of there and would like to meet other owners. John Quote
Merle Coggins Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 Sure, I'm a little NE of Des Moines myself. It's only a 6 hour drive from here in Waukesha, WI Seriously, I know there are a few in your area. Hopefully they'll speak up. It's always fun to meet other enthusiasts in your area. Merle Quote
Johnny S Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 I met several of the Iowa guys at the Tulsa meet. There are several in the Des Moines area. I'm not sure they play on the forum here but they do love their Plymouths as well. They were members of the Plymouth Owners Club I believe. Lee Exline from this forum lives in Grimes. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 Johnny's right. A lot of the people from the Plymouth Owners Club are not active on this forum because we are more liberal and not 100% original for the most part. If you go over to the POC forum you'll find some of those people there. You may even find a few people from the Walter P. Chrysler club on that forum too in your area. Then there are some purist and non purist that simply don't want to mess with a computer in your area. Have a few near me like that. Those people you may run into at cruise ins in your area though. Dennis_MN Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 I've been to a couple of car shows this spring, just to show off my old truck. Most owners have been street rodders, or Mopar muscle car owners both of whom showed a lack of interest in either me or my truck. However, this weekend I was at the ATHS truck show and it was an entirely different crowd of owners. I had a lot of fun and got a whole lot of information. Dennis Quote
Young Ed Posted June 20, 2007 Report Posted June 20, 2007 Dennis If you ever get time you should wander up to North St Paul on a friday night. Very fun cruise night. Quote

Dennis Dennis, you must have been with the wrong bunch of street rodders. I went to this cruise in a couple of times a few years ago. Most of them are street rods and muscle cars. However, both times I went the guys seemed to gather around my car and were very interested in the engine, even though it's stock except for color. The only reason I stopped going to the cruise in is because they started having people sign in and it became like a club. http://wednesdaynightclassics.com/ Quote
Merle Coggins Posted June 20, 2007 Report Posted June 20, 2007 Thanks for the info, Norm. I didn't even know they had one there. I go to Pistol Pete's often, but wasn't aware of the cruise in on Wednesday nights. I'll have to check it out. How's the one at Wayne's Drive In up at 5 Corners? That's more on your side of town. Is that one on Thursday's? Merle Quote

Guest aunteeks Posted June 20, 2007 Report Posted June 20, 2007 Lee, Matter of fact I bought my b-3-c at a used car lot in M-town just last week. My inlaws hail from that fair city and we were visiting. Do you get to Porkey,s or Hardees for their cruise nights? I plan to be at Hardees Fri. night. Maybe we'll run into each other. (Not literally of course.) :D John Quote

Is that one on Thursday's? Merle Actually Wayne's is about the same distance as Pistol Pete's for me. I'm sort of right in the middle. I've been to Wayne's a few times but never on Cruise night. Schlotzsky's Deli in Memonmonee Falls is closer. Nice bunch of people at that one too. I haven't been to any of the Cruise ins the past year. Primarily because of the times they're held. Most are between 5 PM & 9 PM weeknights. That's dinner time. By the time we're finished with dinner it's at least 6 or 7 PM. Then if we drive to a cruise in, it's at least 7:30 or 8 PM by the time we get there. Wife and I like to sit back and relax in the yard in the evenings instead of rushing to get to a cruise in after dinner. As for eating at the cruise in, not fond of that either due to the type of food most of them serve. Don't care for a sandwich or fast food for dinner. Granted Pistol Pete's serves dinners, but to be honest "been there tried that" and not fond of their cooking. Never tried their Pizza, but don't like the seasoning they use for the other meals. So.......don't want to eat dinner there either. That's just my opinion though on their food. To be honest, I really don't like eating out much anywhere. Would rather eat at home. Probably because I spent most of my life on the road eating out. Not only that but I smoke and in most places today they don't allow smoking. Like to enjoy a cigarette and coffee after dinner. So.......it' like pulling teeth for my wife to get me to eat out. I would hit more cruise ins though if they were on a weekend. Don't see those so much though. There are a lot more crusie ins in the area. Did you click on the Calendar on Pistol Pete's site? There is one or more for almost every weekday night each month listed at some location. Quote
