bobostski Posted August 26, 2014 Report Posted August 26, 2014 I was at the Gas Monkey Shop last week talking to Tony, the sales manager and asked him why the 2 mechanics Tom (the goofy mech.) and Jordan (looks like Tom's brother) got fired. He wouldn't say but did say they are going to have their own show as a spin-off. They are going to be in the old Gas Monkey shop. That's all he would tell me. I was speculating as to what the premise of the show was going to be about. I figure either they felt sorry for the guys and gave them the shop to start over or the guys went behind Richard's back and rented the old shop to get revenge on their old boss. Either way it will all be a set up as nothing on that show happens exactly as it is filmed. The 2 guys did get fired from the show for real though. I saw Jordon at a car show last February. I bought the 50 Wayfarer on the show and he came over to see the car again and to talk. He told me that he and Tom got fired 2 weeks earlier and was very pissed about it. He wouldn't tell me why but said it would bit Richard in the ass I think they got fired because they wanted more money. When I was filming for the show in August , I talked to Tom for about 1/2 hour. I asked him what he got paid for the show and he said he got mechanics pay and that all. He couldn't even make extra money going to car shows and making personal appearances. . It will be interesting to see if the show goes through and what it will be about. Quote
greg g Posted August 26, 2014 Report Posted August 26, 2014 (edited) There was talk in Michigan the Richard was at the Woodward super cruise representing Dodge as part of his new commercial gig. He was driving one of the new challengers and got busted for doing burnouts. Seems to be a favorite activity of his. Apparently one of Detroit'sfinast took exception to him marking his territory. Dave72dt Posted August 26, 2014 Report Posted August 26, 2014 One of several shows I could never get really interested in. If they'd show more of the building and less of the BS, it might actually have some merit. 3 Quote
bobjob55 Posted August 29, 2014 Report Posted August 29, 2014 As far as gas monkey goes ,, seems like they only build what they want ... and it is always the same thing .... Then they try to rip off anyone dumb enough to come into there garage ... Taking a nice pristine old model A ,, throwing out most the parts , chopping up what's left and trying to get $ 50.000 for a hot-rod that they could have got the same starting point from e- bay as a project car really cheap .. maybe the new spin - off show will be a little more down to earth ..
