jhm1mc13 Posted August 13, 2014 Report Posted August 13, 2014 I'm having trouble sourcing a replacement thermostat housing as there are a variety of choices. If someone with a parts book could help I would appreciate it, see picture. Thanks, Jim M Clover, SC Quote
linus6948 Posted August 13, 2014 Report Posted August 13, 2014 (edited) It doesn`t have the angle bend but it looks like this one would work ok... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Thermostat-Housing-for-1951-1956-Plymouth-Dodge-6-Cylinder-cars-Trucks-/171296807771?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item27e215db5b&vxp=mtr another http://www.ebay.com/itm/426-HEMI-Thermostat-Housing-DODGE-PLYMOUTH-MOPAR-/141372218233?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item20ea70db79&vxp=mtr Edited August 13, 2014 by linus6948 Quote

Has the engine in your car been replaced? Quote
jhm1mc13 Posted August 13, 2014 Author Report Posted August 13, 2014 Don, I forgot to mention the car came to me with a '42 Dodge truck motor. I took for granted the housing was from the Plymouth because it matched the angled spout on the radiator. The picture might help. I just got a wrong clutch issue figured out. Funny how 65 years of tinkering can muddy the waters. Thanks for the reply Jim Magennis Quote
Bobacuda Posted August 13, 2014 Report Posted August 13, 2014 I was unable to find a solid replacement for an angled thermostat housing for my '53 Dodge, till I looked on a '67 273 V8. Angle appears to be correct and it fits. However, I agree with DC, isn't your engine supposed to have the big, cast Iron, thermo housing? Quote

That reminds me that the thermostat and gasket on the 318 in the 63 D200 I once had would physically fit my '33. And the angle of the outlet might have been close too. They did not start the external bypass on Plymouth until '34 and only on the DeLuxe the business or Roadking versions have the same non-bypass that mine has. Quote
