linus6948 Posted July 6, 2014 Report Posted July 6, 2014 (edited) Mikes Carburetor in Washington State has put up two videos on rebuilding the Carter BB Carb that were invaluable to me when I had to take-on my varnish clogged carb. I also spoke to the man on the phone and he is a heck of a nice guy, very helpful. Below is the utube link...there is a part 1 and 2 to this video. Edited July 6, 2014 by linus6948 1 Quote
Don Coatney Posted July 6, 2014 Report Posted July 6, 2014 Interesting videos. They should go in the links section under the resources tab located at the top of this page. You can place them there yourself. What part of Pennsylvania do you live in? Quote
linus6948 Posted July 6, 2014 Author Report Posted July 6, 2014 (edited) Don I`m in White Haven, Luzerne County. I tried to move this as suggested but could not figure out how to get it done. Edited July 6, 2014 by linus6948 Quote
Don Coatney Posted July 6, 2014 Report Posted July 6, 2014 I lived in Walnutport a few years back. There is a guy named George Asche who lives in Venus, PA. If you ever get a chance you should pay him a visit. He is a Mopar flathead Guru. Quote
st63 Posted July 7, 2014 Report Posted July 7, 2014 (edited) Used the same videos myself...very helpful...and yes, Mike is a great guy to work with! The videos are also available on DVD. Edited July 7, 2014 by st63 1 Quote
greg g Posted July 7, 2014 Report Posted July 7, 2014 I see Mike has a problem with ball control. He apparently had a spare near by. I have found through experience that once the smaller acc pump check ball is released, it will hide itself in the deepest darkest portion of you shop before you can get the SH out of $#!+ out. I know there is at least a foursome somewhere in my garage. I no longer remove them, just clean them up and make sure they are free. He should have shown the step up valve assembly a bit better. The vacuum port that holds the jet down against the spring is a very important detail. If the cavuum is not properly provided the rod will be in the up position all the time leading to over rich mixtures, poor fuel mileage and possibly fouled plugs. Quote
ChrisRice Posted July 7, 2014 Report Posted July 7, 2014 I was watching these yesterday when I did mine. He actually has a lot more then just those two videos posted on YouTube showing other carbureators. Quote

On my dual set up I removed the spring and made the valve non-functioning.....no more fouled plugs and smell is gone from the exhaust... Quote
