Merle Coggins Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 Seems pretty cheap for a car that is supposedly that nice. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 So....what's up with that "pre approved bidder/buyer list"?? Says you must be placed on the list to bid. Can't recall seeing that one before. It has a "buy it now" of $4800, but no reserve. Would seem it could be bought for less than the buy it now without a reserve. Weird. Quote
Johnny S Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 They just want your name, email and other basic info....and then the harassment will start. Don't bite. Quote
Reg Evans Posted June 11, 2007 Author Report Posted June 11, 2007 Yeah. I clicked on the "ask seller a question" button and it jumps to a place to send them your eBay id and email address. Yeah....right. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 I also tried clicking on his user ID (which shows 0 feedback) and it goes to the space at the bottom to send your info. Tried "View seller's other items" and get the same thing. Something fishy here. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 Did anyone forward this info on to good ol ebay? They will take action on certain things. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 So....what's up with that "pre approved bidder/buyer list"?? Says you must be placed on the list to bid. Bob, There is nothing strange about the pre approved bidder. Some auctions on ebay require that. That is to try and keep the deadbeats out of the picture. To get pre approved you have to show ebay that you can pay the bill if you win the bid. Sort of like at a live auction when you have to show a letter from a bank with financial information before you can bid or buy at them. That said, something is messed up on that auction though when you can't go through ebay to ask a question, etc. Quote
AJ Johnson Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 Definately a scam. Try and cut and paste the item number. You can't the whole page is a redirect. Anywhere you click on the page it takes you to the bottom. AJ Quote
Guest 50Plymouth Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 I talked to the owner. He lives in Nigeria or somewhere and is going to make me a great deal.. ...just as soon as I forward my bank account numbers so he can make a small deposit DISCLAIMER: Extreme sarcasm. Quote
Ed Griffin Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 Tropical and Palm tree's in ID? No mention of it being in a differant location for pick up. Maybe that's why it's so cheap, ya think? Quote
eric wissing Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 The car is photographed in front of a Banyon Tree. It looks just like a Florida car that didn't make reserve a week or so ago. The back ground sure doesn't look like Idaho. Eric Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 Borrowed picture???? Isn't that a no-no?? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 Bob if there are set on ripping you off for 4800.00 plus other unknown deductions from you account later..lifting a picture is nothing...sad to say there is not enough E-bay police to clean these pages... Quote
Guest tagree01 Posted June 12, 2007 Report Posted June 12, 2007 The worst part of the scam is that they get you to send a check straight to them without going through eBay channels (e.g. officially winning the auction). Then, you have no recourse with eBay's buyer protection because technically you didn't buy the car through them. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 Ebay pulled the auction. If you click on the link Reg posted it says "Invalid Item". Quote
AJ Johnson Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 When this thread started I reported it to eBay as possible fraud. You would think that would be an easy thing to do, but they make it a pain. Just try and find the right channels to go through. Sadly, they keep raising the prices to sell on eBay but the service keeps getting worse. AJ Quote
