DonaldSmith
I've pulled this out of another thread, where I wasn't getting an answer. I'm about to install a new clutch release bearing, reinstall the transmission, etc. Some release bearings are pre-lubricated and some are not? How would you know? Now the DeSotos in the mid 30's had a grease hose to the bearing, but pre-lubricated bearings came into their own since then. The seals on the new and old bearings look pretty tight. How would you get a needle in to inject grease? So guys, do you have to grease your release bearings or not?
greg g
The presence of a grease fitting indicates the bearing requires occasional maintenence. The absence of a fitting indicates the bearing is sealed and is lubricated for its predicted life span.
