Brent B3B Posted February 3, 2014 Report Posted February 3, 2014 Keven hooked me up with a honey comb radiator last week.after pulling my old one out i noticed it has a 1.5" ID mouth and the one Keven had was a 2" ID mouth. i did have my old one recored several years ago but they never changed the mouth. (it is possible it had been changed prior to the recore, but i don't know) does anyone know if the 51 had a smaller mouth? is there a way to track the numbers stamped on the tanks? (tryed to show photo's still having trouble) Quote
HanksB3B Posted February 4, 2014 Report Posted February 4, 2014 I have a problem with a big mouth, but not the kind you are referring to. I'm not sure what you are referencing when you say mouth. I'm guessing it's not the radiator cap. Are you refering to the tube that comes out of the tank and goes into the top of the engine or do you mean the bottom cast iron piece ? Hank Quote
Brent B3B Posted February 4, 2014 Author Report Posted February 4, 2014 Hi Hank, sorry, no I was meaning the fill spout under the cap Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted February 4, 2014 Report Posted February 4, 2014 I think the smaller fill neck started in 1951. Bob Quote
Solution ggdad1951 Posted February 4, 2014 Solution Report Posted February 4, 2014 my 51 has the smaller size, as does the '52 rad I have as a future replacement if things go south on my original Quote
