greg g Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 Probably anti squeek rubber. Should be available on the web from Restorations Specialities and or other vendors. I use it with weather strip adhesive on the front joints of the P15 Fenders/cowl, grill/fender. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 Tim, It's the same way on the P15. The tape is just for anti squeak. In my opinion the tape looks like the old asphalt impregnated jute used for repairing roofs, if you are familiar with the old roof repair products. Asphalt impregnated jute membrane is hard to find today. That's because it was replaced in the the late 60's with asphalt impregnated fiberglass membrane. So, that's what I use. Just go to the hardware store and pick up a 4 or 6" roll. That should give you a lifetime supply since the rolls are usually about 150 feet long. You can either pull the roll out and cut a smaller width or cut the roll to the width you want before unrolling. To cut before unrolling use a hacksaw to cut the roll. Before you cut though, tape around the roll and make your cut in the center of the tape. This will keep your ends from becoming ragged. However, your hacksaw blade will be toast when finished because it will be gummed up with the asphalt in the membrane. You can use the clear packing tape or duct tape for taping before cutting. Quote
Lou Earle Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 What I have used- I have cut old tubes and made strips and glued them on . Also used the dynamat on most recient one- the Taxi- that worked just fine as did the innertube strips. Lou Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted June 6, 2007 Report Posted June 6, 2007 Lou, The old inner tube is cheap enough, but the dynamat could get expensive. The roof asphalt impregnated roof membrane I mentioned is only about 6 to $10 per 150 foot roll at most big box lumber yards. Quote
