Thanks for posting that. Unfortunately, the municipal powers that now own the plant can't even give the site away. Too much environmental cleanup is my guess as well as just the sheer cost of demolition. Yes, it is historically important but it is way beyond the salvage stage. When you watch the video you realize that when new, the buildings represent Detroit at its height. Now they represent the depths of depression the city has entered. Place will never be the same.

This is a very intense article. The buyer was a 3rd option after two high dollar bidders fell through. He has a track record of real-estate redevelopment and plans to live at the plant as his primary residency. Some dork, who probably hasn't even rebuilt an engine let alone a building, sez he needs to level the whole thing. I say zip it zippy, let the man take a shot at something he's done before. Hope it all works out.
